[He looks down at his food, chopsticks poised halfway in the air. His green eyes are the size of dinner plates.]
You made mochi?!
[He almost wants to skip dinner entirely, but that would be rude considering how much work Mikleo put into it.]
Are you a wizard? My mom's showed me like ten times, but I always messed it up. How am I supposed to eat fish when there's mochi somewhere? [He sits up a bit. Are they in the kitchen or out here? He might steal one if they are.]
[He's about to drool-- he's pretty sure of it. It takes serious willpower to sit back down and look at his mackerel, which is fucking delicious, but it's not mochi... He'll tide himself over for now by attacking this stew instead.]
Okay, okay. I'll behave for now, but no promises for later.
[Sorey gently sets his chopsticks aside. He is also finished, but that's no surprise. He was hungry and also it was freaking delicious.]
Branwen it is. [His eyes practically sparkle as he smiles at Mikleo, and then he goes looking for the cat.] Kitty! Here, kitty kitty! You need to learn your name!
[That leaves Mikleo to fetch dessert, but that's probably fine. In the meantime, Sorey's scooting around on his hands and knees for any sign of the kitten.]
[Mikleo laughs as Sorey bolts to find their kitten. He cleans up the table and puts the dishes into the washer. Only then does the older man start getting out the glasses and alcohol so that he can mix some drinks, setting them on the table.
He digs into the freezer and takes out the mochi. There's...an actual gallon tub full of them, so this should last a little while.]
Hey, Sorey, I've got your birthday mochi out, if you want some right now.
[Mikleo sounds amused. He's pretty sure that'll get Sorey running like the kitten when she hears the word "food."]
[Sorey straightens immediately, which proves to be a bad idea as he hits his head on the endtable. THUMP.] Ow! Uhh, I-I'm coming! [He scrambles to his feet.] And I'm okay!
[The cat wanders out of some hole she's decided to sleep in for the past few minutes, making Sorey feel rather foolish. The cat wasn't even back there. Damn it. He rubs at the back of his head as he comes to the table again... and promptly drops his arm to his side.]
... Are those real? Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. They look like something out of a magazine! How can I eat them? I want to eat them. Mikleo, can I? Can I, pleeeeease?
[That thump he hears gets him walking to see what Sorey just did to himself. Mikleo eyes him suspiciously when his boyfriend enters the kitchen.]
Are you sure you're all right? That sounded pretty bad.
[Ugh, but it's hard to keep frowning when the brunet is acting like a puppy presented with his favorite treat. Jesus Christ.]
You have to save some for me and you're not allowed to eat more than half the tub. Otherwise, it's fair game.
[Mikleo kisses his cheek and goes to start mixing the two of them some drinks. He starts off with making a White Rabbit cocktail. When he's done, he sets the glass down in front of Sorey while taking the other one for himself.]
This is called a White Rabbit cocktail. It's got some vodka in it, but I put in a lot less than normal for yours. I figure you should probably work you're way up to having what it actually calls for.
I'm fine, I'm fine! [He doesn't want to delay the Mochi-ing any longer. But, gosh, he looks like he's about to pick Mikleo up and whirl him around. He's that happy.]
Thank you! Thank you so much!
[Despite his insatiable hunger, he takes one of the wagashi delicately in his hand and he only eats a small part of it at first. He wants to savor these, not get sick off them and puke them up. That would not be a good way to spend his birthday-- even his 21st. He's not that kind of guy.
He moans rather inappropriately at the sweet vanilla taste and closes his eyes. Give him a minute, he's in heaven.]
Mikleo, you need to try one of these. They're incredible. Best thing I've ever eaten-- don't tell my mom.
[He leans over to look at the cocktails. After a moment, he picks up the glass and gives it a sniff.]
I don't think this is on the Cabin 11 menu. Looks yummy, though. [The alcohol smells less strong than the drinks he's made at work. He tilts it back and takes a big sip, unafraid of anything that Mikleo could make.]
Oh! This is good! [It tastes more like vanilla than vodka. The sweetness drowns out the sharpness of the alcohol, which he severely appreciates.] ... What if I just drank this whole thing...?
[Sorey just laughs. He doesn't care that he just moaned into his mochi. It's worth moaning about.]
Well, it's really good. I think it should be on the menu. We could even serve it with some chocolate on the side for people who want a little variety or something.
[He's not sure Cabin 11 is that kind of bar, but what if it was. What if it was.]
In that case... [He finishes his mochi and chases it with the rest of the cocktail. It's mild enough that the burning in his throat doesn't last; it's nice and smooth, owing to Mikleo's expert mixing.] Mmm, yep, that's good. I'll never understand why people drink beer when there's stuff like this.
[He sets down his empty glass and pulls Mikleo gently against him. Sorey's eyes are full of love and laughter as he leans in, his lips tantalizingly close.]
Well, I can at least bring it up with Luke at some point.
[He knocks back the rest of his drink as well, and finishes off his mochi afterwards. There's a proud smile on his face at the compliment.]
I gave up understanding. It just means more for the rest of us.
[Mikleo puts down his empty glass right as Sorey pulls him closer. His own expression is a combination of amusement and love. He puts his arms around the brunet's neck. One hand plays with the ends of Sorey's hair at the base of his neck.]
[Sorey smiles big enough that the corners of his eyes pinch together. He's so grateful for his gorgeous talented boyfriend, and it stirs all sorts of happy sappy flutterings in his heart and his soul. To be frank: he is so in love that it's disgusting. He wraps his arms comfortably around Mikleo's middle, slowly rubs his back.]
Today has been wonderful. It means so much... Thank you.
[He can't really say it enough. But he can kiss Mikleo at least, so he does-- a tease of soft vanilla lips that finally culminates in something a little less chaste.]
[Mikleo practically melts at both the smile and having his back rubbed. Sorey isn't the only one disgustingly in love, that's for sure. The older man just tries to keep it subtle.]
You're more than worth it.
[He returns the kiss with a soft sigh, and welcomes his boyfriend warmly when he makes the kiss less than chaste. The taste of vanilla and Sorey is just as intoxicating as the alcohol.]
[Sorey has wanted nothing more than to kiss Mikleo all night. With his hands free he can kiss and cuddle to his heart's content. While one hand slips lower to scritch his friend's lower back, Sorey draws his other one through Mikleo's bountiful curls. He never tires of them whether they're chestnut brown or brilliant cloud-blue. They're a part of Mikleo like his eyes and his fingertips and his scars, so of course he loves all of it.
He seems to grow in confidence as the kiss goes on, even licking Mikleo's lips between kisses. Everything about him is joy and laughter; he loses more than one happy chuckle against Mikleo's mouth.]

no subject
Not just any mochi. I filled them with vanilla ice cream, and I made the outside a light vanilla flavor, too.
[He can't contain his grin, though. This is adorable, even if the compliments are making him blush.]
After dinner, Sorey. I made sure there was enough to not spoil dessert.

Fair enough.
[He takes a few more bites before continuing.]
By the way, what kind of names were you thinking of for our cat?
no subject
Sorey is already halfway through his fish when Mikleo speaks up again. He chews thoughtfully and swallows before answering.]
What about Eleanor? Like Eleanor of Aquitaine. A queen's name would make sense for a cat, don't you think?
no subject
Mm, maybe. I like the sound of it, but let's run through a couple other names before we decide on Eleanor.
[Give him a moment....]
Maybe Bast, the cat goddess?
no subject
I can't really see Bast as a calico, though... Maybe if she was black all over, or a sphinx?
If we're going with goddesses there's a bunch to choose from. Like Áine, or Ceridwen-- ah, and Freyja too.
no subject
Brighid might be nice, or Branwen if we want to go with something from Arthurian legend.
[Please don't name the cat Morgan. She might turn evil on them in that case.]
no subject
[They're not going to name the cat Morgan. But Sorey grins a bit and suggests it anyway.]
Or we could name her Morgan, and then her last name could be Le Fay...
no subject
[He's so proud of you, Sorey.
Up until the brunet suggests Morgan Le Fay. Mikleo gives him a flat look.]
Are you trying to imply that you want to have my surname? Or is this another way of saying I'm catty?
no subject
Uhhhhh-- i-it would rhyme at least? Sorey Le Fay, haha!
[... ANYWAY.]
Seriously though, Morgan's just asking for trouble. There's a bunch of different forms of Branwen we could use, too, like Brangaine, or Brangwin...
no subject
Hmmm, well, I guess Sorey Lefay does have a nice ring to it.
[He's dying on the inside. Holy shit, moving on—!]
Yeah, it really is. But do we really want to do that to the poor vet who has to enter than information in and then read it aloud?
no subject
Haha, you have a point! I know I've seen Brangwin as a last name before. Branwen sounds nice though.
no subject
Then, if you like Branwen, we can stick with that. Unless you're still partial to Eleanor?
[He shrugs lightly.]
I don't mind either one.
no subject
Branwen it is. [His eyes practically sparkle as he smiles at Mikleo, and then he goes looking for the cat.] Kitty! Here, kitty kitty! You need to learn your name!

I won't tell her, especially not after that escaping your mouth.
[He takes a sip of his drink to try distracting himself. Then, he tries one of the mochi and smiles a bit in satisfaction.]
I guess they are pretty good. And, no, it's not on the menu there. I did a bit of experimenting on my own after looking up some recipes online.
[Mikleo laughs at that.]
Feel free to! This is just a warm up, which says a lot about the vanilla liquor mixed drinks I found.
no subject
Well, it's really good. I think it should be on the menu. We could even serve it with some chocolate on the side for people who want a little variety or something.
